Dome, octa or lantern?
- Parabolic domes (Amaran Light Dome 60 and 90, Aputure Light Dome SE) give soft but directional light, and usually include a grid to control spill.
- Octa softboxes (Amaran Octa Dome 120, Godox octas) are large and round - flattering for portraits and interviews.
- Lanterns (Amaran Lantern 65, Aputure Lantern 30) spread light in every direction - for ambient light over a table, a room or a mandap.
Check the mount
Most softboxes here use the Bowens mount, which fits Amaran, Aputure and Godox COB lights, but check both the light and the softbox before buying. Some Godox octas are made for speedlights and flash. See our continuous lights.

What is the difference between a softbox and an umbrella?
A softbox encloses the light and gives a controlled, even soft light; an umbrella is quicker to set up but spills light around the room.
Will a softbox fit my LED light?
