Which type of light?
- COB monolights (Amaran 150c, Aputure 300x, STORM series) are the main light on most sets. They take Bowens-mount modifiers like softboxes and lanterns.
- Panels and mats (Amaran F21x, Verge, Ace) give soft light straight away and pack flat - good for interviews and location work.
- Pocket lights (Aputure MC) are for accents, hiding in a set, or lighting faces on the move.
What to look for
Colour accuracy: CRI 95 or higher keeps skin tones natural. Bi-colour or RGB: bi-colour (warm to cool white) covers most work; RGB adds full colour for music videos and effects.
